Daily Prompt #5

What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

To me, a long life isn’t measured by years alone, but by alignment.

Because I walk the old ways—witchcraft braided with Egyptian devotion—I don’t see longevity as something to chase for its own sake. Life is a cycle, not a finish line. What matters is how well a life is lived in balance, in truth, and in right action. Ma’at teaches that harmony, justice, and integrity are the weights against which we are measured, not the length of time our heart continues to beat.

If I live long, I hope it is because my spirit still has work to do—lessons to learn, wisdom to pass on, balance to restore. And if my time is shorter, I trust that the deeds done in alignment with Ma’at will carry me forward. Reincarnation, to me, is not an escape from death but a continuation of responsibility. Each life is another chance to refine the soul, to correct imbalance, to walk more carefully than before.

So a long life is meaningful only if it is lived well—ethically, magically, intentionally. I don’t seek endless years; I seek a life worthy of being lived again.
