Sonnet of the Unspoken Morning

I love you best before the world begins,
When coffee steam is still a ghost in air,
And sleep still lingers soft upon your skin—
The early hush we neither need declare.

The kettle hums its low and patient song,
Your fingers trace the chipped edge of your cup;
No grand confession makes the moment strong,
But how you never rush to drink it up.

I watch you blink the starlight from your eyes,
And think of all the words I’ll never say—
How even silence, shaped by no surprise,
Can hold more truth than sonnets on display.

So let the world demand its wild, loud proof—
I’ll take this still-warm quiet as my truth.

  1. The poem is evocative and full of love and I am here for that. I would also like to say that the artwork accompanying this lovely poem is lovely and now I have a burning need to make the hooded garment that the man is wearing. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER SEWING PROJECT. *sigh*

      1. Yes and I actually have 5 or more patterns in my sewing pattern collection that would work for Assassin’s Creed costuming. I’m still working out where I would either purchase trim with arcane symbols already embroidered on it, and what sort of embroidery stitches would really be the best for the hood itself. I’ve never even played Assassin’s Creed; as I’ve shared with you before, I’m a Runescape girl.

        And another fun fact, I covet his bracelets and arm bands. So much.

        This is an “in my head only” currently project, as my current sewing projects list in real life is 10 projects deep. But I am thoroughly enjoying the mental workout here.
