Daily Prompt 33

List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?

Here are three books that have impacted me:

  1. The Story of My Experiments with Truth by Mohandas Karamchand (Mahatma) Gandhi (Author), Mahadev H. Desai (Translator), Sissela Bok (Foreword)

Reading Gandhi’s autobiography felt like sitting across from someone who refused to hide from his own flaws. What struck me most was his honesty—he didn’t present himself as perfect, but as someone constantly trying, failing, and growing. It made me rethink what strength really is. Instead of power or control, I started to see strength as discipline, self-awareness, and the courage to live by your values even when it’s uncomfortable

2.) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

This book changed the way I look at purpose. It reminded me that chasing what feels meaningful isn’t foolish—it’s necessary. The idea that the universe “conspires” to help when you commit to your path stuck with me. It pushed me to trust my instincts more and to stop ignoring the quiet pull toward what I actually want in life.

3.) Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

This one hit me on a deeper level. Knowing that Viktor Frankl wrote about finding purpose even in the horrors of a concentration camp completely shifted my mindset. It made me realize that meaning isn’t something you wait for—it’s something you choose, even in suffering. That idea has stayed with me whenever life feels heavy or uncertain

Each of these books, in different ways, pushed me to look inward—at my values, my purpose, and how I respond to challenges.
